Ballyfinane N.S. Sensory Garden is always a hive of activity with the boys and girls busy preparing soil for planting, sowing the plants, then weeding, watering the plants or harvesting. We are very lucky to have been recipients of the Bank of Ireland ‘Begin Together Fund’ which enabled us to create an outdoor sensory place with raised bed to grow plants and vegetables. We have grown garlic, rhubarb, leek,, tomatoes, carrots, parsnips, lettuce and a whole variety of herbs.
We love the outdoor train where we often head outside for some English Activities, lunch and well-being time. All the children love looking after the vegetables and plants and we look forward to all the items for tasting in the school kitchen.
